I built Rizom Bridge after upgrading to Maya 2027 and losing my old RizomUV workflow. I needed an easy way to move meshes between the two programs during the UV process, especially when I spotted mesh issues that needed cleaning up.

Send selected static meshes from Maya through FBX, edit and save your UVs in RizomUV, then bring the saved result back into Maya. The bridge detects installed RizomUV versions and lets you choose which one to launch.

I've been refining it for my own work and am sharing it as an early beta through Tip Tree Interactive.

Included

  • SEND TO RIZOM and SEND TO MAYA panel.
  • Installed RizomUV version selection and reuse of the bridge-launched window.
  • map1 UV transfer when the mesh geometry corresponds.
  • Scene checkpoints, transfer backups and an optional Stop if Maya mesh changed setting.
  • Drag-and-drop installer, Python source, quick start, troubleshooting and uninstall instructions.

Compatibility

Maya 2027 on Windows, manually tested with RizomUV 2025.0. Installed-version detection does not mean every RizomUV version has been tested. You need your own copies of Maya and RizomUV.

Static polygon meshes only. Referenced, instanced, locked, skinned and otherwise deformed meshes are unsupported. Maya Undo must be enabled and its FBX plug-in available.

Getting started

Extract the ZIP, read START_HERE.txt and drag INSTALL_SAFE_PULL.py into a Maya viewport. Choose your RizomUV installation in Options, click Open and send your selected meshes. Save the active handoff document in RizomUV before clicking SEND TO MAYA.

Before using it on a project

With matching geometry, the bridge transfers map1 UVs. If geometry differs, the default return can restore the saved Rizom mesh and retain the previous Maya shape/history in a hidden archive. Saved returns can overwrite Maya edits. Enable Stop if Maya mesh changed if you want to stop on detected conflicts. It is off by default.

Keep your normal scene saves and backups. The included guides explain recovery files and their limitations.

Licence and support

One individual may use the bridge for personal and commercial projects. Your created assets and project outputs are yours to sell or deliver. The bridge, source and documentation may not be redistributed or resold. Additional users need separate licences. Full terms are in LICENSE.txt.

This is an early beta. Future features and wider compatibility are not promised. For questions, issues or feature suggestions, use the product comments or seller contact provided by itch.io. Include your Maya, RizomUV and bridge versions, what happened and the complete error output.

0.3.8 update, 22 October 2026

I've added a new Angular exchange icon to match my Tip Tree logo, plus a few small changes to make the panel easier to read.

  • New icon on the Maya shelf button and bridge window.
  • Orange SEND TO RIZOM and blue SEND TO MAYA buttons, with bold white labels.
  • A slightly wider default window, with the same height.
  • Reinstalling refreshes existing shelf buttons and copies the icons into Maya's scripts folder.
  • Version labels now match 0.3.8, including rzb_mesh_snapshot_038.py.

To update, extract the ZIP and keep the three Python files and icons folder together, then drag INSTALL_SAFE_PULL.py into Maya. When Maya asks to load the snapshot helper, click Allow and leave “Apply to all plugins in this location” unchecked.

The mesh/UV transfer behaviour is unchanged. Full patch notes, installation details and beta limits are in the ZIP.

0.3.7 update, 20 October 2026

I've fixed the Maya return issues that could leave imported helper groups and materials behind, along with the snapshot errors reported during the update.

  • Removed temporary imported geometry and materials after successful returns, addressing helper materials carried into exports as extra Substance Painter texture sets.
  • Preserved current Maya material assignments when mesh restoration can map them safely.
  • Improved UV-only returns after freezing transforms when the geometry still matches.
  • Fixed the MArgList and JSON string/list errors that could stop a Maya return.
  • Made failed preparation cleanup safer, with the original meshes checked before and after cleanup.

Active RZB mesh data stays in place because the transfer history uses it. Repeated UV-only returns were manually confirmed for 0.3.7. Full patch notes, upgrade details and beta limits are in RELEASE_NOTES.txt inside the ZIP.
